Ahhh outdoor plants, you have them in all shapes and sizes. Plants for your balcony or garden. Hardy and evergreen plants, climbers, shrubs, ornamental grasses and flowering plants. But what is involved in preparing your outdoor space?
Clean soil
We prefer to start the gardening season with clean soil, that’s when your green friends do best! How to pull that off? Remove the weeds and also consider shovelling away the top layer of soil and replenishing it with fresh, new soil. Want to know more about soil for your outdoor plants? Find out here!
Getting started with the rake
Before you start planting your new acquisitions, rough up the soil once. This is best done with a rake, but you can also do it with your hands. As a bonus, you can also add some fertiliser in this step! Especially if you already have some plants, this is a good step to keep in there, after the winter they can use some extra nutrition.
Lime in your garden?
It’s normally best to sprinkle lime in autumn so you can benefit from it in spring. Forgotten? Then it’s also fine in early spring. Just make sure you go for fast-acting lime. Why lime is so important? It makes for healthy, strong plants that grow faster. Keep that jungle coming!
